Diamond View Loop Nordic is an easy hike of about 0.68 miles in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest, within the Crescent Ranger District. The trail starts at about 5,291 feet and climbs to about 5,450 feet, with a total gain of 256 feet and a loss of 177 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 11% grade, before the path settles into a gentler climb. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July and August averages from the Odell Lake weather station, about 5 miles away, run in the low to mid 70s for highs and in the mid 40s for lows. That station sits roughly 650 feet below the loop, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Winter brings highs in the mid 30s and regular snow days from December through February. The trip takes about half an hour. Whitefish Creek is 0.4 miles away, and the Pacific Crest Trail - Pengra and Pengra Pass Nordic are both about 0.6 miles off. Trapper Creek Campground is 0.8 miles away.
