Diamond Peak is a short out-and-back hike in Oregon's Willamette National Forest, within the Middle Fork Ranger District. The trail is about 0.7 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 266 feet, and it starts at the Diamond Peak Trailhead (South) at roughly 4,714 feet. The high point on the route is 4,909 feet, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.1 miles from the start, where the grade reaches 20 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Odell Lake, at a similar elevation, show July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February. Hemlock Butte Trail #3620 and Vivian Lake Trail #3662 both lie within a mile of the peak. For paddling, Swift Creek is about 3 miles away, and Indigo Springs campground is roughly 5.6 miles off.
