Devil's Garden is a 2.4-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Willamette National Forest, within the Middle Fork Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated moderate with a total elevation gain of about 1,200 feet. The route starts at roughly 4,065 feet and climbs to a high point of about 5,194 feet. The climb is rolling, but the steepest part comes right at the start, with a grade of about 38 percent over the first 0.05 miles. That steep section eases as you go, and the trail returns the same way. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. A nearby weather station at Odell Lake records typical July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow. The trail opens from June 1 through October 31, and the trip takes about 1.5 hours. Bikes are allowed, and the surface is natural. South Fork Salt Creek, a canoeing spot about half a mile away, is the closest neighbor. Vivian Lake, Verdun and Gold Lake Campground are all within about 6 miles.
