Crater Lake Snomo is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 8 miles on the Forest Service land of the Diamond Lake Ranger District in Oregon's Umpqua National Forest. The trail rises about 710 feet from its starting point at 5,336 feet to a high point of 5,945 feet, and the climb is rolling rather than steep, with the steepest stretch coming at about 2.2 miles in. The route is roughly 3.9 miles long one way. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At a weather station about 16 miles away, typical July and August highs average around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months see highs in the low 30s and rain on roughly 18 days. That station sits about 540 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures here run a bit warmer. The hike makes an easy pairing with Summit Rock Trail, just 0.1 mile away, and Mount Thielsen Trail is about a mile off. South Shore Pavilion campground and Broken Arrow Campground are both within a mile.
