The Chip Ross Trail is a 1.5-mile loop in Chip Ross Natural Area, on city-managed land in Oregon. It is an easy hike, with a total elevation gain of 323 feet and a high point of 857 feet. The trail is short enough for a half-hour outing, and it sits within a network of trails that makes it easy to lengthen the day. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs in the low 80s and only three wet days a month. Winter runs cold and wet, with highs around 47°F and rain on 20 or more days a month. Bikes are allowed, so the trail works for hikers and riders alike. The Main Chip Ross Loop lies just 0.1 mile away for a longer ride, and the Betty Griffiths Trail and Dan's Trail are both within half a mile. Paddlers can find the East Channel Willamette River about 3.5 miles off.
