New Growth Trail is a short, easy hike in Oregon's Philomath Unit, about 0.4 miles long and rising roughly 200 feet from a low point of 716 feet to a high of 935 feet. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is gentle enough to fit into a longer outing on foot. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Corvallis show July and August highs in the low 80s with only about three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 40s and rain on more than 20 days a month. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trail is close to several other routes. Old Growth Trail is just 0.1 mile away, and Vineyard Mountain Trail is about 0.4 mile off. Firehouse Trail, a mountain biking route, is about half a mile away, and Alpha Trail is about 0.8 mile away.
