Charlie Buck is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southwest Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 5.8 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 3,749 feet, and it starts at roughly 3,961 feet, reaching a high point of about 4,297 feet. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes around mile 2.7, where the grade reaches about 44%. Bikes and horses are both allowed on the natural-surface trail, and the route is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Howard Prairie Dam weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days. Mule Creek starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Little Grayback Trail is about half a mile off. For an overnight stay, Acorn Woman Peak Lookout is about 1.3 miles away, and Beaver Sulphur Group Campground is about 2.7 miles away.
