Badger Creek is a hard hike in Oregon's Badger Creek Wilderness, part of the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 3,300 feet to a high point of 5,210 feet, with a total gain of 2,453 feet over 11.4 miles. The steepest stretch comes at about 5 miles in, where the grade reaches 25 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Government Camp show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. That station sits roughly 1,200 feet below the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Pine Creek Trail and Badger Creek Cutoff Trail #477 both start within a mile. Badger Lake campground is about 3 miles away, and the Area 51 climbing area is about 4.5 miles off.
