Bombs Away is a short, easy hike in the Philomath Unit of Oregon, about 0.7 miles long and roughly 200 feet of elevation gain. It's a point-to-point route, so you can expect a little more descent on the way back than on the way up. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Corvallis show July and August highs around 83 to 84°F with only about three wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the upper 40s and rain on most days. Bikes and horses are both allowed on this trail. The Upper Horse Trail for mountain biking is just 0.3 miles away, and the Ridge Trail and Alpha Trail are within a mile. Paddlers can head to the East Channel Willamette River, about 5 miles off.
