Autobahn is an easy out-and-back hike in southern Oregon, about half a mile from Klamath Falls and sitting at roughly 4,270 feet. The route is short, just over a mile long, and the climb is minimal: about 104 feet of elevation gain one way, with the high point at 4,382 feet. The trail is front-loaded, meaning the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.13 miles in, with a grade of about 7 percent. After that, the route eases into a gentle return to the starting elevation. The entire round trip takes about half an hour. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Klamath Falls show May highs around 67°F and September highs around 77°F, with July and August the warmest months at about 85°F and the fewest wet days. Several other hikes start right around the trailhead, including Sidewinder and Sawmill Trail, both about a tenth of a mile away. Blueberry and Eulalona Trail are a little farther, and Cougar Rock Boulders, a climbing area, is about 5 miles away.
