Anvil Lake is a 3-mile out-and-back hike in the Clackamas River Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is natural-surfaced and rated hard, with a total climb of about 450 feet from a starting point near 4,040 feet to a high of about 4,160 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Buck Lake is about 1.7 miles away, and the Southshore hike is about 2.8 miles off. Pine Point Campground (Timothy Lake, OR) and Meditation Point Campground are both about 3 miles away.
