Union Creek Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Whitman Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon. It sits within the national forest's boundaries, and the Forest Service manages the land. The site has flush toilets, and a fee is charged for stays. That makes it a straightforward base for an overnight trip, with the basics covered for campers who want to set up and stay put. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Baker City show July and August highs around 88°F with only three or four wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the upper 30s. That station sits about 850 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at the site run cooler. Several trails start close by. Deer Lick Trail is about a mile away, and Coyote Cove Trail and Phillips Lake North Shoreline Trail are each within about 1.6 miles.
