Tamarack Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Whitman Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in northeastern Oregon. It sits within the national forest's boundaries, and the nearest town is Joseph, about 25 miles away. The site is a simple base for overnight stays. Amenities include vault toilets, and a fee is charged for use. There are no other facilities listed, so plan on the basics. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Joseph weather station show July and August highs around 79 to 80°F with only five or six wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s.
