East Bay is a Forest Service campground in Oregon, set at the base of Hager Mountain on the shores of Thompson Reservoir within the Silver Lake Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. It sits about 20 minutes south of Silver Lake, with the Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 and Hager Mountain close by. Eighteen spacious campsites serve both tent and RV campers, and the campground is shaded by mature ponderosa pines. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, potable water and three vault toilets. There is no dock, but boaters can back their boat down the ramp into the water. The reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout annually. Summer is the most comfortable season for a visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Silver Lake put July highs around 85°F with lows near 45°F, and September is similar at about 76°F by day. Winters are cold, with January highs near 40°F. Thompson campground is about 2 miles away, and the Oc&E Woods Line State Trail and Auger Valley Trail are both within about 4 miles. Hager Mountain Lookout is roughly 5 miles off.
