Upper Buck Creek is a Forest Service campground in the Silver Lake Ranger District of Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest. It sits about 1.5 miles from Lower Buck Creek, the closest other campground in the area. The site has vault toilets, and no fees are required to use it. That makes it a simple base for an overnight stay in the district, with the essentials in place for a low-key trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 85°F with lows near 45°F, and September still reaching about 76°F. That station sits roughly 700 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run a little cooler.
