Lower Buck Creek is a Forest Service campground in the Silver Lake Ranger District of Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest. It sits about 10 miles from the Silver Lake ranger district headquarters, and the nearest town is likely Silver Lake itself. The site has vault toilets, and no fees are required to use it. That makes it a straightforward base for an overnight stay in the district, with its simple facilities and lack of charge. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 85°F in July and August, with fewer wet days than in the rest of the year. Winter there is cold, with January highs near 40°F and lows around 20°F. Upper Buck Creek, another campground, is about 1.5 miles away. Paddlers can reach Bear Creek and Buck Creek within about 3.5 miles. For hiking, the Bluebuck Trail is about 5 miles off.
