Cover Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Tiller Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, about 1.6 miles from Black Canyon. It sits on the banks of Jackson Creek, with seven campsites shaded by a stand of Douglas fir. The creek makes a natural focal point, offering beautiful views all year round, and spring brings the added sight of butterflies along its shores. Plan on bringing a swimsuit: the campground sits close to local swimming spots. Vault toilets are the only facilities listed, and a fee is charged. Summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from the Lost Creek Dam weather station, about 21 miles away, show July and August highs near 90°F, while June and September are milder, with highs around 80°F and 84°F and fewer wet days. Winter is cool and damp, with January highs near 49°F. Nearby, Jackson Creek lies less than a mile away and is a canoeing destination. Black Canyon and Skookum Pond are other campgrounds within about 5 miles, and Cougar Butte Trail is a hike about 3.5 miles off.
