Buffalo Creek Park is a city-managed climbing area in North Carolina, set on its own land unit within the city's park system. It sits close to the Lake Lure area, and the surrounding network of boulders and short trails makes it a compact base for climbers and hikers alike. The park's climbing is centered on bouldering, with five boulder problems and one traditional route among the six listed routes. The boulders range from V1 to V4 on the V scale, and the traditional route is rated 5.8- on the YDS scale. The closest boulders are Two Face Boulder and Tatanka Boulder, both about 0.1 mile away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Lure show October highs around 72°F with lows near 47°F, and April is similar at about 72°F by day and 44°F at night. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures here run a little cooler. The Buffalo Creek Park Loop and Upper Boulders Trail are both within half a mile, and Eagle Rock is about 2 miles away. Lake Lure, roughly 3 miles off, offers fishing.
