Whale Wall is a bouldering area in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among several other climbing areas, including Dojo Left, Basilisk and Tulpehocken, all within about a tenth of a mile, and the White Diamond Trail is just as close. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes ranging from V1 to V9, so it works well for climbers who want a short session on the rock. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest at about 84°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the wall, so temperatures on the boulders may run slightly cooler. The closest trails are the White Diamond Trail and the 7 Hills Trail, both within a mile. Across the state line in New Jersey, the Ramapo River offers fishing about 4 miles away, and Monksville Reservoir is roughly 8 miles off.
