Stewarts Ledge is a rock climbing area in the Lake George Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among several other climbing spots and hiking routes, making it a natural anchor for a day of both rock and trail. For rock, the area offers 11 routes that cover a range of styles, from sport and mixed to trad, with grades from 5.6 up to 5.11b. Sport climbers will find Lithium at 5.10a and Valium at 5.11b, while mixed climbers can try Dryer Weather at 5.6. The Barking Spider is a trad route at 5.7+. Late summer into early fall is the most comfortable stretch for a visit. Typical averages from the nearby Glens Falls airport weather station put September highs around 72°F with lows near 48°F, and the station sits a few hundred feet lower than the ledge, so temperatures here run a little cooler. Several other spots are close by. Eagle Cliff is about 0.6 miles away, and New Buck is about 1.4 miles away. Hikers can pick up the Buck Mt Trail or the Pilot Knob path, both within about a third of a mile.
