The Wilmington Region climbing area sits within the Sentinel Range Wilderness in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It is a compact cluster of rock with a range of routes, from sport climbs to trad, and it makes a natural base for exploring the surrounding cliffs and trails. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The area has 15 routes, with grades ranging from 5.9+ to 5.13a. Among them are the sport route Save a Tree, Eat a Beaver at 5.10d and the trad route Polar Soldier at 5.11c. Cloudspin Cliff is just 0.7 miles away, and Notch Mountain is about 1.6 miles off. Hikers can reach the West Branch Nature Trail at 1.2 miles and the Bear Den Trail at 2 miles.
