The Wheeler-Watson Trail is a short, easy hike of about half a mile in the Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve in New York, managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail rises about 110 feet from its low point of 1,582 feet to a high of 1,718 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 9% grade near the 0.32-mile mark. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Schoharie show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 74°F, while July averages about 84°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the preserve run cooler. The Race Track lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Ordway Trail and Lincoln Pond Trail are each within about 0.4 miles. For time on the water, Tenmile Creek is about 4 miles off.
