Rooster Comb Trail is a 2.2-mile hike in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The route is rated easy and ends at a high point of 2,781 feet, with an elevation gain of 1,392 feet over its length. It starts at about 1,378 feet and drops 468 feet at the end. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. July typically averages highs around 74°F and lows near 54°F at a nearby weather station in Lake Placid, and the trail runs higher than that station, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. Bikes and horses are not allowed. Flume Brook Trail sits just 0.1 mile away, and Snow - Flume Brook Crossover Trail and Hedgehog Trail are each within a mile. Climbers can head to Victor, about 1.5 miles off.
