Phelps Trail is a 7.8-mile moderate hike in New York, about 1.5 miles from the village of Keene Valley. It is a point-to-point route, starting at roughly 1,584 feet and climbing to about 4,843 feet, with a total gain of 2,265 feet. The trail is not open to bikes or horses. The Brothers Trail and Little Porter Mountain Trail both lie within a quarter mile of the start, and the Hilltop Drive climbing area is about 0.3 miles away. For a longer outing, the West Branch Ausable River, about 7 miles off, offers canoeing.
