Red Loop is a 2.4-mile loop hike in Cranberry Lake Preserve, a county-managed preserve in New York. The trail is rated easy, with a total elevation gain of 256 feet, and it makes a compact outing for anyone exploring the preserve's network of short loops. The route starts at about 428 feet and reaches a high point of 476 feet, with the steepest stretch coming around 0.84 miles in at a 9% grade. The climb is gentle overall, and the loop shape makes it easy to complete in one go. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. History Loop lies just 0.1 mile away, and Yellow Loop is about 0.6 mile off. Paddlers can reach the Bronx River about 2.2 miles away, and the Hudson Valley Greenway Trail (Elmsford to New Castle) is roughly 3.5 miles away.
