Pecoy Notch Trail is a 1.85-mile hike in the Indian Head Wilderness in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It is an easy trail with an elevation gain of 833 feet, and it ends at a high point of about 2,795 feet. The route rises from roughly 1,967 feet to about 2,795 feet, with the steepest section around 1.5 miles in at about 23%. That makes it a short, straightforward climb, though the total descent is a little more than the gain. For comfortable weather, aim for late summer into early fall. Typical averages from the Platte Clove weather station, about 2.4 miles away, show September highs near 72°F with lows around 48°F, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures up high run cooler. Nearby, Jimmy Dolan State Forest, the village, and the surrounding trails make it easy to round out a day on foot or by bike. The closest are Jimmy Dolan Notch Trail, about a mile away, and Mink Hollow Trail at about 1.4 miles. Devil's Path, a mountain biking route, is about 1.6 miles off, and the Catskills climbing area lies about 5.8 miles away.
