The trail is about a mile long, with a low point of 1,048 feet and a high of 1,221 feet, and it gains about 170 feet in elevation. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.57 miles in, with a grade of about 12 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Glens Falls Farm show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 74°F, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The trail is not wheelchair accessible, and bikes and horses are not allowed. The old logging trail lies about 0.2 miles away, and the Cat Mountain Blue Trail and the Richard Hayes Phillips Trail are each about 0.8 miles off. For a change of pace, The Sagamore lake fishing area is about 3 miles away.
