Flume Brook Trail is a 1.5-mile hike in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It is a point-to-point route with a one-way elevation gain of 1,027 feet, starting at about 1,378 feet and reaching a high of about 2,432 feet. The trail is rated easy, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 29%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, and the station sits about 544 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Bikes and horses are not allowed. The Rooster Comb Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Snow - Flume Brook Crossover Trail and Hedgehog Trail are within about a mile. Climbers can find the Victor area about 1.5 miles off.
