Calamity Brook - Indian Pass Crossover Trail is a 1.6-mile point-to-point hike in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The nearest town is Tahawus, about 3.7 miles away. The trail is rated easy, with a total elevation gain of 391 feet. The climb is front-loaded, peaking at 2,307 feet about a mile in, and the route ends lower than it starts, with a total loss of 468 feet. The steepest stretch comes at the 1-mile mark, where the grade reaches about 28%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F and lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The Calamity Brook Trail lies about a mile away, and the Indian Pass Trail and Mount Adams Trail are each roughly 1.7 miles off. Climbers can find Wallface about 2.3 miles away.
