Skylight Trail is a short, steep hike in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The trail is about half a mile long, with a one-way elevation gain of 557 feet, and it is rated expert. It starts at roughly 4,900 feet and climbs to about 4,920 feet, with the steepest stretch around 0.27 miles in. The trail is a point-to-point route, and it is not open to bikes or horses. The climb is short but intense, with a steepest grade of about 37 percent. Elk Lake - Marcy Trail lies about 0.4 miles away, and Gray Peak Trail is about 0.6 miles off. South Haystack Trail is about 1.4 miles away, and Panther Gorge, a climbing area, is about 1.6 miles away.
