Blue is a short, easy hike in New York, set within the Old Field Preserve (Houlihan Property) on city land. The route is a point-to-point walk of about a mile, with a low point of 571 feet and a high of 684 feet. The climb is gentle, with a total gain of 71 feet and a steepest stretch of about 10% at roughly 0.6 miles in. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury, Connecticut, run to highs around 69°F in May and 74°F in September, with July the warmest at about 82°F. The hike takes about half an hour. The Orange Trail and Blue Trail both start about 0.3 miles away, and the Yellow Trail is about 0.9 miles off. Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, a climbing area, lies about 2.9 miles away.
