Green Trail is a short, easy hike in New York, about 0.44 miles long and roughly 120 feet of climb. It starts at a low of about 926 feet and reaches a high of 984 feet, so the whole trip is a gentle rise with a small drop at the end. The steepest stretch comes early, around the 0.28-mile mark, where the grade reaches about 13 percent. The route is a point-to-point path. It is about 1.2 miles from Twin Lakes Village, the nearest town. Bikes and horses are not allowed, so plan on walking it. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury, Connecticut, show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F. That station sits about 527 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The Yellow Trail, Blue Trail and Orange Trail all start within about a third of a mile, and the Mountain Lakes climbing area is about 0.6 miles away.
