Jackalope is an easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 4.3 miles long, with a one-way climb of 517 feet from a low point of 6,724 feet to a high of 7,243 feet. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station run to highs around 73°F in May and 77°F in September, while winter highs sit in the low to mid 40s. Rabbit Run lies about 0.4 miles away, and Cedro Peak and Cedro Creek Nature Trail are each about 0.9 miles off. Climbers can find Bouldering Cave roughly 0.9 miles from the trail.
