Drinking Fountain is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.1 miles in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest, New Mexico. The trail climbs roughly 521 feet from a low point of about 6,676 feet to a high of about 7,225 feet, and the Forest Service manages the surrounding land. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station, about 6.9 miles away, show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with lows near 41°F and 46°F. The hike works well as a short outing. The Tierra Monte West Trail and CCC Road both start about 0.1 mile away, and the Juan Tabo PG climbing area and the La Luz trail are each about 0.4 mile off.
