Cienega is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.7 miles in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 3.6 miles from the nearest town, and it gains roughly 1,505 feet, with the low point around 7,720 feet and the high point at about 9,242 feet. The trail surface is natural, and it is not an accessible route. That makes it a good fit for hikers who want a steady climb rather than a route with paved sections or accessibility features. Several other trails lie close by. Acequia is about half a mile away, Sulphur is about 0.7 miles away, and the Acequia Trail (227) and Wagon are both about 0.8 miles off. Climbers can find Pino Wall about 2.8 miles away.
