The 10K Trail North is a 5.1-mile out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in northern New Mexico. It rises about 308 feet from a low point of 9,777 feet to a high point of 10,003 feet, which makes it a moderate outing on the Forest Service's land. The trail is a short, low-elevation climb, so the most important factors are the round trip of about 5 miles and the 308-foot gain. Plan on about an hour and a half for the walk, with more time if you want to stretch or explore the surrounding area. The route sits close to several other trails and climbing areas. The Challenge Trail, used for cross-country skiing, is just 0.1 mile away, and the Double Eagle Trail (23) is about 0.2 mile off. Climbers can head to Yucca Flower Tower and Bush Shark Area, both within about 0.8 mile.
