West Side is a bouldering area in the Carson Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, about 0.8 miles from the Mogul Cliffs and 1.2 miles from The Ice Cubes. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with Church Ridge and the Hawk Meadow Trail also within about a mile and a half. The climbing here is bouldering only, and the one route listed is Shootin' Blanks, a V4 boulder problem. That makes it a compact stop for climbers looking to add a boulder session to a day spent exploring the surrounding crags. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 85°F with lows near 53°F, while winter highs sit in the low 40s and lows drop into the 20s. For more time on the rock, The Ice Cubes and Church Ridge are close by. The Hawk Meadow Trail offers a hike, and Alum Creek, about 4.5 miles away, is an option for paddling.
