East Wall is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land in Nevada, within the Sierra Front Field Office. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, including Owl Rock, West Face and Celebrity Wall, all about 0.1 mile away. Wing Boulder is also close by. The climbing here is all sport, with 12 routes spread across a range from 5.9 to 5.12+. The easiest are It's A Hoot and Too Hoot To Handle at 5.9, and the hardest is Throw In The Towl at 5.12+. The median grade is 5.10. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from the nearby Virginia City weather station show July highs around 84°F with lows near 62°F, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snow days each month from December through February. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the wall, so temperatures on the rock run cooler.
