Owl Rock is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land in Nevada, within the Sierra Front Field Office. It sits among several other named climbing areas, so it works well as a base for exploring the cluster rather than a single destination. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June and September, when typical averages from the nearby Virginia City weather station run around 74°F for highs and 53°F for lows. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the rock, so temperatures at the climbing areas run cooler. Winter brings frequent snow days, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid-20s from December through February. West Face, East Wall and Celebrity Wall all lie about 0.1 mile away, and Wing Boulder is just as close. For time off the rock, Steamboat Creek offers canoeing about 4 miles off, and Six Mile Canyon Road is a hike about 5 miles away.
