Southern Outcrops is a bouldering area in the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness, part of the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada. It sits within designated wilderness and is managed by the BLM. The bouldering here is compact, with five routes all rated V3 to V5. The climbers are named Once And For All (V3), Honest Abe (V4) and Impeded Stream, Outlandish and Uncut Gems (all V5). Dylan Demyanek is listed as the first ascent of each. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 70°F in April and 75°F in October. July and August average about 94 to 95°F. That station sits roughly 700 feet lower than the outcrops, so temperatures at the rock run a little cooler. Illusion Crags and Disappearing Buttress are both within a third of a mile. Chocolate Rocks is about 0.6 miles away. Red Rock Canyon Campground is about 10 miles out.
