Lower East Side is a climbing area in Nevada's Rainbow Mountain Wilderness, within the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Horseshoe Wall about 0.1 mile away and Aeolian Wall about 0.2 mile away, and Silly Patch Boulders and Cactus Flower Tower Summit within a quarter mile. The area is a traditional climbing destination. Fifteen routes are listed, all rated between 5.7 and 5.9 on the YDS scale. Among them are Limón, a 5.7 first ascended by Giselle Field, Steve Stosky and Derek Field in 2019, and Delancey Street, a 5.9 first ascended by Doug Foust, Mark Beauchamp and Larry DeAngelo. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 70°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. That station sits about 1,300 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler. Red Rock Canyon Campground is about 6 miles away for an overnight stay.
