East Face is a climbing area in Nevada's Rainbow Mountain Wilderness, within the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Fish Head just 0.1 mile away and Windy Canyon Boulders and Warm Up Boulder each about 0.2 mile off. The area is a traditional climbing destination. Eleven routes are listed, all rated trad, with grades ranging from 5.3 to 5.10d. Black and White Crack is the easiest at 5.3, and The Lovely Bones is the hardest at 5.10d. The median grade is 5.7+. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 70°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. That station sits about 940 feet lower than the area, so temperatures on the face run cooler. Red Rock Canyon Campground is about 9 miles away for an overnight stay.
