Disappearing Buttress is a climbing area in the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness of Nevada, within the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management. It sits among several other climbing spots, with Illusion Crags just 0.2 miles away and Southern Outcrops (Bouldering) at 0.3 miles, making it easy to pair with other climbs in the same corner of the canyon. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable conditions. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 80°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August climb to the mid-90s. That station sits well below the buttress, so temperatures at the crag run cooler. Red Rock Canyon Campground, about 10 miles away, is the closest place to camp. For a different outing, the Old Spanish Trail lies roughly 1.6 miles off.
