Wood Canyon is a hard hike of about 4.8 miles in the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 821 feet, rising from roughly 6,800 feet to about 7,600 feet. It's a natural-surface route, and the Forest Service records it as allowing both horses and bikes. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 65°F and October highs around 64°F, while July peaks near 85°F and winter highs hover around 42°F. Peavine Creek Campground is about 3.6 miles away, and the HORSE CANYON RES and Seyler Springs hikes both lie within about 4 miles. Keough Springs is about 4.2 miles off.
