White River Pass Canyon is a moderate out-and-back hike in Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, within the Ely Ranger District. The trail runs about 6 miles, with a total elevation gain of 1,800 feet, from a low point of 6,841 feet to a high of 8,667 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced and open year-round. The climb is a steady one, and the trail is suitable for horses. Bikes are not allowed. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 66°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F.
