Broom Canyon is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Ely Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, about 3.9 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 991 feet. The trail starts at a low point of 6,888 feet and climbs to a high of 7,877 feet, and it is managed by the Forest Service. The route is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so riders can take it on a horseback trip. Bikes are not allowed. The trail is open year-round, and the nearest town is Ely. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 65°F and September highs around 75°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F.
