Pine Creek is a 2.2-mile out-and-back hike in Nevada's Jarbidge Wilderness, within the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route rises from about 8,500 feet to a high point of 8,745 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,557 feet over the course of the trip. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.56 miles in, where the grade reaches 40 percent. The hike is rated hard, and the round trip takes about 1.5 hours. The trail starts at a low point of 8,199 feet, so plan for a significant climb before the high point and a similar descent back down. Several other hikes lie within a couple of miles, including Coon Creek at 1.6 miles and Danger Trail at 1.8 miles. Pine Creek Campground, about 4.5 miles away, offers a place to stay, and the Jarbidge River, roughly 6 miles off, is an option for river fishing.
