Mount Jefferson is a 2-mile out-and-back hike in the Alta Toquima Wilderness, part of the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route rises from about 7,437 feet to about 7,764 feet, a gain of 92 feet one way. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June and September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run around 76°F for highs and 35°F to 31°F for lows.
