Hunter Creek is a hard hike in the Carson Ranger District of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 6 miles long, with a one-way climb of roughly 1,100 feet from a low point near 4,970 feet to a high of about 6,130 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June and September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 75°F to 77°F and lows in the upper 40s. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The trail is accessible and has a natural surface. Bikes are not allowed. Steamboat Ditch Trail, a mountain biking route, starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Tom Cooke Trail is about 0.8 mile off. The Belli Front Trail is about 1.2 miles away, and the Chudo Area climbing area is about 1.5 miles away.
