Halo Trail is a hard, 10.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Carson Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The trail rises about 662 feet, from a low of 5,144 feet to a high of 5,780 feet, and is managed by the Forest Service. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Reno show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 68°F, while July and August average in the low 90s. That station sits about 800 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. The trail is open from June 1 through October 15. It is a natural-surface route, and bikes are allowed. Several other destinations sit close by. Las Brisas and Kings Row are hikes about 0.1 mile away, and the Las Brisas Trail for mountain biking is right next to them. Keystone Boulder, a climbing area, is about 1.2 miles off.
